Blocked gutters cause three separate problems around here, and they arrive in different seasons. In summer, a gutter packed with dry gum leaves is one of the most reliable ways for an ember to set a house alight. In winter, overflowing gutters run water down walls, into eaves and back toward footings. And year round, everything sitting in that gutter washes straight into your rainwater tank.
Marx Maintenance clears gutters across Albury, Wodonga and the surrounding towns — properly emptied, downpipes checked and flushed, and the debris taken away rather than raked onto the garden.

What a gutter clean covers
Full gutter clear-out
Leaves, twigs, silt and grit removed by hand and vacuum — not just the loose material on top.
Roof valleys
Valleys clog faster than gutters and cause worse leaks when they overflow. Cleared every visit.
Downpipe checking and flushing
Every downpipe checked for flow and flushed through. A clear gutter feeding a blocked downpipe achieves nothing.
Roof surface debris
Leaf litter cleared off the roof itself, particularly behind chimneys, around solar panels and in the low spots where it piles up.
Rainwater tank inlets and leaf diverters
Inlet screens, first-flush diverters and leaf catchers checked and cleaned — the parts almost everyone forgets.
Gutter and roof condition report
Rust, sagging brackets, poor falls, split seams and loose flashing photographed and reported so you can act before it leaks.
Debris removed from site
It leaves with us. No pile left on the lawn or in the garden bed.
Gutter guard advice
If your place is under gums and you are cleaning gutters twice a year, gutter guard may be worth pricing. We will give you an honest view on whether it pays for itself at your property.
What it costs
A standard single-storey home is typically $180–$350 depending on roof size, pitch, access and how much is in there. Two-storey, steep or complex roofs are quoted after a look. Booking it with a pressure wash or a tank clean saves you a second call-out fee.

Questions
Gutter Cleaning — FAQ
How often do gutters need cleaning?
Once a year for most suburban homes. Twice a year — before fire season and before winter — if you have gums, pines or deep-rooted natives overhanging the roof. That covers a lot of properties around Chiltern, Barnawartha and rural Albury.
Why does it matter so much for tank water?
Because everything in your gutter is on its way to your tank. Regular gutter cleaning is the single cheapest thing you can do to slow down sludge build-up and stretch out the time between tank cleans.
Do you clean gutters on two-storey homes?
Yes, with the appropriate height safety equipment. Two-storey and steep-pitch roofs are priced higher because the access and safety setup genuinely takes longer.
Is it worth installing gutter guard?
Sometimes. Under heavy gum cover it can pay for itself in a few years and it adds ember protection in a bushfire-prone area. On an open suburban block with one small tree, it usually does not. We will tell you which one you are.
